Gastroesophageal Reflux

Our Consultant Paediatricians are very experienced in addressing issues related to acid reflux in children. Gastroesophageal reflux (GER) occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the oesophagus, causing discomfort, burning sensation, vomiting, or feeding problems. After diagnosing the problem, our Consultant Paediatrician will offer our young patient the appropriate treatment to alleviate symptoms and prevent complications.

What is it?

Gastroesophageal reflux occurs happens when the muscle at the lower end of the oesophagus doesn’t close properly, allowing stomach acid to flow back up. This can lead to heartburn, regurgitation, and feeding difficulties in infants and children. Chronic GER can cause irritation and inflammation of the oesophagus.
