Paediatrics
Blood tests may be required to diagnose health conditions in children. These tests help identify infections, allergies, nutrient deficiencies, and monitor ongoing conditions like iron deficiencies anaemia, or vitamin D and other mineral deficiencies.
A paediatric blood test is a quick procedure where a small sample of blood is drawn to assess your child’s health. It is used to diagnose a variety of conditions, but our Consultant Paediatricians will request them only if strictly necessary.
The sample will be taken from your child and sent to our laboratory of reference to be analysed. The aim of a blood test is to identify any underlying health issues, and the result of the tests will be discussed, if needed, in a follow-up consultation. Our Paediatric Nurse will always make sure that your child is comfortable throughout the whole procedure.
During the blood test, a small amount of blood is taken from a vein, usually in the arm. The procedure is quick, and while there may be minor discomfort, our Paediatric Nurse will always make sure that your child’s experience is as stress-free as possible for both them and for you.
Once the sample has been analysed, the results will be shared with you, and a plan will be discussed if any further action is required. A follow-up appointment may be scheduled to go over the findings and decide on next steps, whether it’s treatment, monitoring, or additional tests.
Phlebotomy fee is £30. Total price depending on test requested.
