Dr. Abrar Hussain

Dr. Abrar Hussain is an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist specialising in General Adult Psychiatry and in Liaison Psychiatry, that is defined as the interface between psychological and physical health. His areas of expertise include depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, traumatic stress, personality disorders, functional neurological disorders and psychosomatic disorders.

​Dr. Hussain graduated in India with a gold medal and completed his postgraduate training in Psychiatry in London; in 2009 he was awarded membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and obtained the Fellowship in 2023. Dr Hussain has also been honoured with multiple Clinical Excellence Awards in recognition of his clinical expertise and his excellent contribution towards the delivery of safe high-quality care.

Dr. Hussain is accredited in Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), a type of collaborative therapy based on exploring relationship patterns and is also an EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner. EMDR is the Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing therapy that has been proved and recognised to be a powerful approach for traumatic memories.

Dr. Hussain has presented at national and international conferences and won prizes for his outstanding work. Dr Hussain is regularly invited to deliver talks to clinicians and trainees and his passion for teaching is truly inspiring and tangible when he provides post graduate training to Psychiatrists taking the Royal College of Psychiatrists membership examination.

Dr. Hussain focuses on delivering care that is centred around his patient's needs and firmly believes in providing holistic support to his patients, as each clinical interaction is an opportunity to deliver exceptional care and make a meaningful impact on patients’ wellbeing.

In his free time Dr. Hussain enjoys reading and playing cricket.
